Look at American Idol’s traffic:

What does this mean from the perspective of an affiliate marketer? If we can re-direct traffic from youtube’s hottest video to our site then we may no longer be having headaches as to where to get traffic.

Alternative Sources of Traffic

Sunday 5 August 2007 @ 1:55 am

After you have exerted effort in optimizing your website and still need additional traffic you may want to use alternative sources. Below are some of the list that you can generate traffic.

1. Forums - community forums can be a great resource for your traffic. Members of these sites interact with each other that lead to referring of websites. Put your website’s url within your signature block so that other members can view your site. Just make it sure that the forums that you will be joining is related to your website’s topic.

2. Groups - both yahoo and google groups is another great source of traffic. Members interact with each other through email subscription. You can send a notice to the group members regarding your website or answer members query.

3. Article Submission - submit articles to different article directories like ezinearticles.com. If your article is approved by the admin, other members can use you content provided that your signature or copyright notice is attached at the end of the article. This is another great resource of link building. Be sure that the article that you are submitting is your original work otherwise you might be accused of copyright infringement.

4. RSS Feeds - this is one of the easy ways to get additional traffic specially if you are using wordpress. You just submit your rss feeds to different blog directories and wallahh, you just advertised your website.

5. Offer free ebooks and other stuff - one example is offering free web templates at opensourcedesign.com Just include your keyword/url at the footer of the template. In this way you can have more inbound link coming form the site that uses your template.

There are still a lot of ways to increase traffic (aside from the generic search (engine)). One just need to think creatively.

Other ways that you may want to explore further to increase web traffic:
1. Youtube.com
2. Build squidoo lens.
3. Submitting Press Releases to prdirecories.

good luck to our success!

How To Keep Your Web Visitors

Thursday 5 July 2007 @ 4:48 pm

One of the most painful part of being a webmaster is maintaining the number of visitors that comes to the website. If the surfer wasn’t able to bookmark your site then most likely they will again have a hard time finding you. Below are some suggestions to help you make your customers as regular visitors and stay connected with them.1. Newsletter Offer a subscription of newsletter to your visitor, this will help you update your target visitors about they new contents, launching a products, or whatever things that will keep them posted on what is happening to your site. I cam across to a website where it tracks down storms in different parts of the globe, and the best thing about the site is i can get updates where the located. Pretty cool huh?

2. Offer Freebies. I have seen a lot of website owner offers this kind of strategy and believe me it really works. Freebies may include ebooks, software tools, or industry reports. Just make sure that the items you are giving away are really free and not something that can be set aside.

3. Always Update Your Content. This will give your target the reason to come back to your site. If you are not updating why will they come back. Always updating your site will also increase your popularity in the search engine system.

4. Give incentives. Reward the people who are referring your site to their friend or relatives. This will help in building your network of customers. You may offer this strategy when you can already afford to have the system.

5. Ask for feedback. I use to do this everytime I completed a sale. This will make you improve the services or products that you are offering. There are still a lot of things that can help you maintain your visitors, the above outline is the basic foundation and can help you get started. Be creative and find new ways. Remember every website must is unique.
