If you are monetizing you site via Google Adsense, you may have noticed that the previous label “Today’s Earnings” was changed to “Today’s Estimated Earnings”. Before you made any conclusion read what Google Adsense Team has to say.
Today we’re changing some messaging in the AdSense interface concerning your earnings, and we wanted to give you some more information on why we’re making this change.
In order to be more transparent about how our system calculates earnings, we’ve added the words “Estimated” and “Finalized” next to “Earnings” throughout your account. Rest assured these terminology changes don’t reflect a change to the way your finalized earnings are calculated. It’s simply intended to give you a clearer idea of what’s our estimation of your earnings and what’s finalized.
As you may have noticed in the past, the earnings on the Overview and Advanced Reports pages may sometimes differ from the earnings listed on your Payment History page. This is because earnings on your Overview and Advanced Reports pages reflect initial estimations based on our records. We aren’t able to provide finalized earnings on these pages because they still need to be verified for accuracy, a process that takes place a few days after the end of every month. The finalized sum is then posted on your Payment History page by the 10th of the next month.
While we can’t say how much these amounts would differ for any one publisher, most publishers will not see a significant difference. Again, please keep in mind that this is only a display change, and that your finalized earnings will continue to be calculated and credited to you in the same way as before.
Whew, I thought they are changing the way we received the earnings are posted.
I read in Digital Inspirations blog that AdSense click tracking is now in integrated in Google Analytics (Beta Stage). I am still not quite sure whether how old the news was, since I cannot find the “news” from the site he is referencing into.
Anyway I made a couple of Googling that lead me to Bloglines referencing screenshots to the original blog post. The buzz is really out adsense publishers can soon track their adsense click earnings from google analytics.
Here are more info.
These new reports in Analytics have enough details to help you exactly measure AdSense performance on every single page of your website.
Google dropped hints on AdSense – Analytics integration some two years but the program has finally entered the beta phase as revealed by a post on GoogleCache (offline now).
Luckily the story remained in FeedDemon’s cache and picking from there, following is a summary of AdSense related data that you’ll be able to track via Google Analytics:
1. The number of times AdSense ads were clicked on any given web page.
2. AdSense revenue generated per page for clicks mentioned in #1.
3. You’ll also know the CTR and CPM for all web pages – no need to create individual URL channels in your AdSense dashboard.
4. “Top AdSense Referrers” – this is the most interesting report as it helps you know about revenue made per referring websites.
Let’s take an example. Assume two sites – digg.com and cnn.com – have linked to a page on your website and are sending some referral traffic. Now Analytics will tell you exactly how much AdSense revenue you are making through traffic from each of these sites.
This report has enormous potential as it lends a “measurable” value to each incoming link. Some sites could even use this as a replacement for affiliate programs.
All the above information is based on screenshots that were shared by Google Cache but that story is no longer available on the web.

I hope that the Google Adsense-Analytics integration will be out soon so that we can benchmark our earnings more precisely.

If you are an Adsense Publisher like me you might have noticed that Google has already launched Adsense for Feeds. I have not yet set up mine yet. I am still weighing whether it will be good for my visitors or not.
According to Google Adsense here are the major benefits of Adsense for Feeds.
# Receive higher CPMs and maintain a positive user experience by displaying ads specifically optimized for RSS feeds.
# View detailed stats on your feed audience, distribution, and more through FeedBurner when you set up your feeds with AdSense.
# Manage monetization for your feeds through the same account that you use to manage other AdSense properties.
Watch the introductory video from GA’s Product Manager Steve Olechowski:
Why am I still hesitant in putting the Adsense For Feeds?
The objective of my RSS feed is to drive traffic to my site(s) so that I can still show other things to my readers (my own products, affiliate products etc.) and have them subscribe to my list.
Maybe someday… after weighing the benefits, I might consider using the Adsense for Feeds but not today Jose.

Many new internet marketers that earn money online through adsense were banned due to invalid clicks or click fraud. So when does a click is considered invalid or fraud? The following section is an excerpt from the Google Adsense blog explaining what are invalid or click fraud.
Invalid clicks are clicks for which we decide not to charge our AdWords advertisers, since they may artificially drive up advertiser cost or publisher revenue. These include extraneous clicks without any value to the advertiser, such as the second click of a double-click. They also include many other types of clicks that we’ve determined aren’t motivated by genuine user interest.
“Invalid clicks” are often confused with “clicking on your own ads”. However, we’d like to stress that invalid clicks are generally any clicks that artificially inflate advertiser cost or publisher revenue, regardless of their source.
Click fraud is a subset of invalid clicks that are generated with malicious or fraudulent intent — in other words, clicks that are intended to drive up advertiser cost or publisher revenue artificially. Sources for these clicks include, but are not limited to:
- A publisher clicking on his own ads, or encouraging clicks on his ads
- Users or family members clicking to support the site / publisher
- Third-party programs with user incentives, such as paid-to-click services and click-exchanges
- Automated clicking tools, robots, or other deceptive software
The same principles above apply to ad impressions and conversions as well. Some sources of invalid impressions include, but are not limited to:
- Excessive page refreshes, generated either manually or automatically
- Third-party programs with user incentives, such as paid-to-surf or auto-surf programs
- Third-party programs for purchasing fixed amounts of traffic, e.g. “$10 for 1,000 page views”
To summarized the article any method that generates artificial traffic or clicks are not considered valid. What are the repercussions? They might ban your website without any warning.

More power to you.
