Google’s New Policy Change

Saturday 29 March 2008 @ 5:24 pm

Google has advised its publisher that there is new policy on being a publisher. If you are an existing adsense publisher you will see the new policy once you log-in to your account. You need to agree on this policy before continuing to log-in to your account.

One of the provision of the new google policy is adding a privacy policy page on every page that show google adsense. Thsi is easy if you own a relatively small number of websites. But owning a 100 sites is a different story. Anyway, if your website is based on Wordpress, there is a privacy plugin tool that you can easily use to easily add the privacy policy page.

You can find the plug-in here for free. Just install the plug-in and generate a PP Page and wallah, an instant privacy plug-in.

You can get the free plug-in on this web address: http://www.synclastic.com/plugins/privacy-policy/

more power to us.

What are Turnkey Websites?

Wednesday 19 December 2007 @ 8:36 pm

Turnkey Sites is one of the sale able items on the Internet today.  This article will explain to newbies what are turnkey sites and how are they going to help web entrepreneurs in their online business.

Turnkey websites are pre-made websites that are designed on a special niche.  In a turnkey sites every aspect or functionalities are already working, it means an entrepreneur will only install the site to the web server (sometimes an install script is already included), and wallah everything is already pre-made.  By the way you also need to include some of your personal info like (site title, contact info, paypal id, affiliate id etc.)

Turnkey websites are designed is such a way that starting web entrepreneurs need not to hire a web developer.

What does it cost for a turnkey site?  This will depend on what kind of niche will you be promoting.  For youtube.com clone websites, a respectable turnkey site ranges from $300 - $800, and sometimes it can go down up to $10.00 a piece (surf Ebay, the prizes are crazy but the after sales service is crazy too <sigh>).

Are there any disadvantages? Yes. Since the maker of the turnkey site is offering it to a large consumption of internet marketer, you might see a similar website same as yours.  Same in design and same in functionalities.  Solution?  After you have purchased the turnkey site you want to tweak it a bit before making it live.  Tweaking it like changing the theme colors and adding original functionalities.  If you are not completely a newbie in developing a site you may want to hire a web designer and developer for a fee.

Another thing if you will be purchasing a turnkey site solely without the hosting bundle, double check if the hosting requirements matches your hosting server.

A Ten Dollar Investment to Earn using Wordpress System

Thursday 26 July 2007 @ 1:46 am

In my previous article I introduce how to earn without spending a dime, however if you prefer to have a much higher profit then you should invest (time and money) by having your own domain name and hosting account.

One advantage of having your own domain is that the search engine can indexed your site faster unlike when you are hosting on a free domain. Secondly, if you are paying for your hosting account you can have more control over the scripts that you will installing.

Here is the breakdown of your initial investment:

  1. Domain - $10.00 per year

  2. Web hosting - $3-5 dollars per month.

  3. Wordpress Blog system - free

  4. Wordpress Plug-ins - free

The prices shall vary since there are a million domain registrant on the Internet.

In getting your own domain and hosting account, you may want to consider the Top companies in the industry:

  1. Hostgator.com
  2. bluehost.com
  3. www.GoDaddy.com

Remember to get a hosting plan that supports PHP scripting. Wordpress only runs on PHP environment.

How to choose a domain.
Register a domain that has word according to your niche or website. For example if you will be establishing a website for children’s wear you can choose the following domain that has your keyword in it.

www.childrens-wear.com | www.childwear.com

If you domain is no longer available you can add a filler in the domain eg:

www.mychildrenswear.com | www.yourchildrenswear.com

Why is the keyword important in your domain? For the reason that it will add more points in your search engine optimization.

Install Wordpress
The next thing to do is install Wordpress on your server. You can go to Wordpress.org and download the latest release. I will skip the installation of Wordpress into your web host, you can find a lot of reference at the Wordpress website. If you still need further help in installing you may visit their help section.

Once you have installed Wordpress, go to the admin area and log-in to your account. Then go to the option menu and changed the Title and Description of your blog.

Include your primary keyword in the Title Tag while write your secondary keyword in the description area. Note that blog directories will reference your blog according to your title and description.

Post Content
Start writing post in your blog. You should populate your blog with as many “quality” content as possible. Put contents according to your target market. For example if you will be targeting on computers do not include contents about medicines. You may get some of your content from article directories like www.ezinearticles.com

Just remember that majority of the contents that you have put into your blog is not duplicated. Search engine will rank your site lower than that of a site having an original content. Always create value for your readers.

Put in the plug-ins.
Download the following plug-ins to optimized your Wordpress system. The plug-ins listed are free or under the GNU License.

FireStats - Tracks your visitors.

Google Sitemap Generator - Create a sitemap of your website.

SEO Title Tag - optimizing your Title tags

Ultimate Warrior Tags - create additional tags from your content.

Sociable - easily create buttons for your social bookmarking sites like delicio.us and technorati.

Refer to the respective website for their installation instruction.

Apply for your Google Adsense account
Now you have set-up your blog you can now apply for your google adsense account. In applying just go to http://www.google.com/adsense.

The approval of your account varies, sometimes it may take from 2 days to 2 weeks. Or Google may even decline your application if the website does not conforms to their standards.

Put your Adsense code in your blog
There are two ways to put your adsense code to your account: using the Adsense Deluxe Plug-in and using the 3-column lay-out of http://www.sapiensbryan.com/

I used the 3-column lay-out. It is much easier to change the Adsense code than using the plug-in, besides the code blends more with site that can lead to higher CTR.

Know your stats and feel free to experiment on your ad placement.

This conclude the tutorial on how to earn with Google Adsense using Wordpress. But you should not stop here there is still a lot to learn: driving traffic to you website, tracking your performance, link building, etc. I will be posting articles on those areas soon.

Do Not make MFA sites

Wednesday 18 July 2007 @ 11:29 pm

You may have come across with these headlines in your inbox wherein the package includes adsense templates websites, articles for your content, RSS feeds and some tools for your promotion. You might even say “wow a site specifically made for Adsense”. Well before purchasing, THINK again.

In short term, sites specifically Made For Adsense (MFA) can give you enough bucks but in long run you might be wasting your time and money. According to Google Adsense policy these kind of sites are strictly prohibited, and you might even get your adsense account blocked.

How do you spot if your site is MFA? If your site has the same content from other sites. It could be that your content was published in a Public Article Site where everyone else can use it or the content of your site are based on RSS feeds from other sites.

What if you can get away with the adsense team and still manage a couple of MFA sites? THINK again. If you are not to be banned by Google, there is a community based site that does not want MFA sites because it can lower the value of the clicks.

“AdsBlackList.com is a unique project designed to enable you to dramatically reduce the amount of MFA (made for ads) and LCPC (low cost per click) sites which appear through the use of PPC systems such as Google Adsense™, Yahoo Publisher Network™ and Chitika eMiniMalls™”

So you still want to make a MFA site? Its your choice, its your investment.

“Affiliate marketing is a business, don’t replace short term benefits for your long term goals.”

How to start earning without spending a dime.

Wednesday 11 July 2007 @ 11:34 pm

So you wanna earn without spending a dime either you want to try testing the water first before swimming or simply you just do not have enough money to spend. You might have also heard a lot of people started on the Internet business without spending a dime and end up millionaires, yes most of them ended up that way but not all.

In this article I outline the step by step procedure in earning (with google) without spending a dime. Of course you have to give something before being successful: your sweat and effort; little creativeness, passion, and have the right mindset in being successful.

Being a Google Adsense Publisher

This is the best introduction of what is Google Adsense (as defined by Google):

“Google Adsense is the program that can give you advertising revenue from each page on your website—with a minimal investment in time and no additional resources.

AdSense delivers relevant text and image ads that are precisely targeted to your site and your site content. And when you add a Google search box to your site, AdSense delivers relevant text ads that are targeted to the Google search results pages generated by your visitors’ search request.”

You might be asking alright I want to be a google adsense publisher but I do not have a website, does this means that I still have to cash-out to maintain a website. This is the beauty of Google. They are giving away free blog hosting and google pages so that you can put your adsense code without spending a dime on web hosting services. Well, you have to pay for your Internet connection and the coffee while establishing the blog or site.

Here is the step by step::

  1. Think of topic that you like or familiar with. Please note that when you are familiar with the Internet you can research for topics that has a paying keywords. I will be discussing this in another article.

  2. Go to Blogger.com or Google pages and set up your own account.

  3. Start putting in the contents or if you have chosen to blog, start blogging.

  4. After you made your initial entries (maybe for starter 10 post will be suffice), start putting the google adsense codes by signing up to a google adsense account.

  5. Start promoting your site. Participate in google groups, forums, yahoo groups, etc. By the way site promotion is one the essential components for your site to be successful.

  6. Evaluate what you have done from Step 4 to 6. You may want to optimize your site (contents, promotion or SEO techniques, etc.)

  7. If you are already earning a small amount in your first blog/site, create another one. Repeat step 2. The idea here is to be able to have a sustainable number of website. If your initial site is earning $10 per day, having 10 sites makes it $100 day. (of course sometimes, clicks only $.01, so you have to be patience).

Word of caution; do not click your own ads and do not make invalid impressions by refreshing your pages too much. In short do not try to cheat Google, they are smarter than you think. Always read the Terms of Agreement (TOS) or join Google Adsense Blog – in this way you can always be updated of new things about the system.

Will this article make you rich? Maybe or maybe not. Many who have come before us made spectacular income in Google Adsense, others have not. This article is just a tip of the iceberg and there is more a lot to learn like SEO techniques, getting quality content etc. You just have to do it one step at a time. Cheers to you! Happy earning!
